HERRINGBONE GONE WRONG STITCH
The Herringbone Gone Wrong Stitch
is almost he same as the regular herringbone stitch, except that the herringbone gone wrong stitch creates a thicker, double woven look. This stitch is worked in a slightly different way from the other herringbone stitches. With the herringbone gone wrong stitch the canvas is turned after each row is complete. This stitch is an excellent choice for covering large areas or backgrounds. Three diagrams have been used to demonstrate this stitch.
Herringbone Gone Wrong Stitch (Diagram 1):
Bring the needle up at A, move down and to the right over two canvas intersections, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at C, move up and to the right over four canvas intersections, bring the needle down at D. Bring the needle up at E, move down and to the right over four canvas intersections, bring the needle down at F. Bring the needle up at G, move up and to the right over four canvas intersections, bring the needle down at H. Bring the needle up at I, move down and to the right over four canvas intersections, bring the needle down at J. Bring the needle up at K, move up and to the right over two canvas intersections, bring the needle down at L. Now, continue on to Diagram 2...
Herringbone Gone Wrong Stitch (Diagram 2):
Beginning where we left off at L, turn the canvas around to continue. The above diagram shows the actual view of the canvas as it would look turned upside down. This row is illustrated in dark blue.  Bring the needle up at J, move up and to the right over two canvas intersections, bring the needle down at M. Bring the needle up at N, move down and to the right over four canvas intersections, bring the needle down at O. Bring the needle up at P, move up and to the right over four canvas intersections, bring the needle down at Q. Bring the needle up at R, move down and to the right over four canvas intersections, bring the needle down at S. Bring the needle up at T, move up and to the right over four canvas intersections, bring the needle down at U. Bring the needle up at V, move down and to the right over two canvas intersections, bring the needle down at C. Now, continue on to Diagram 3...
Herringbone Gone Wrong Stitch (Diagram 3):
This diagram illustrates how an entire area of herringbone gone wrong stitches should look. Two colors have been used to better illustrates where the stitches are located. The small filling stitches (A/BK/L) should be worked at the end of each row.
