Bokhara Couching Stitch (Staggered Variation) Diagram 1:
Bring the needle up at A, move to the right over fourteen canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. This creates the foundation (aka laid) stitch. Bring the needle up at C, move up over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at D. Bring the needle up at E, move up over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at F. Bring the needle up at G, move up over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at H. This completes the first part of the staggered bokhara couching stitch. Again, as you can see from the diagram, the spacing is not the same as the regular bokhara couching stitch. The reason will become clear as we continue working the stitch. Now, continue on to diagram 2...

Bokhara Couching Stitch (Staggered Variation) Diagram 2:
Beginning where we left off at H, bring the needle up at I, move to the right over fourteen canvas threads, bring the needle down at J. This creates the second foundation (aka laid) stitch. Bring the needle up at K, move up over two canvas threads (crossing over the previous bokhara couching stitch), bring the needle down at L. Bring the needle up at M, move up over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at N. Bring the needle up at O, move up over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at P. This completes the second part of the staggered bokhara couching stitch. Now, continue on to diagram 3...

Bokhara Couching Stitch (Staggered Variation) Diagram 3:
This diagram illustrates how the third part of the staggered bokhara couching stitch is worked into the second part of the staggered bokhara couching stitch. Continue working in the same manner as the previous diagrams, taking note of where each vertical stitch is placed in this diagram. Then, continue on to Diagram 4...
Bokhara Couching Stitch (Staggered Variation) Diagram 4:
This diagram illustrates shows subsequent staggered bokhara couching stitches worked into the preceding stitches. Careful placement of the vertical stitches creates a "staggered" look.
