Buttonhole Wheel Stitch - Diagram 1
Buttonhole Wheel Stitch (Diagram 1):
Bring the needle up at A, move down over two canvas threads and to the left over one canvas thread (be sure to pull the yarn slightly to the left to create the buttonhole look), bring the needle down at B. Continue holding the the A/B stitch and bring the needle up at C. Pull the yarn OVER the A/B stitch, bring the needle down at B (again). This stitch will hold the first stitch in place - be sure to create the buttonhole look with this stitch as well. To work the next stitch in the wheel, bring the needle up at D, move to the left OVER the previous stitch and over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at E, move down OVER the previous stitch and over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at F, move down OVER the previous stitch and over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Now, continue on to Diagram 2...
Buttonhole Wheel Stitch - Diagram 2
Buttonhole Wheel Stitch (Diagram 2):
Beginning where we left off at B, bring the needle up at G, move down OVER the previous stitch and over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at H, move to the right OVER the previous stitch, over one canvas thread and down one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at I, move to the right OVER the previous stitch and over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at J move to the right OVER the previous stitch and over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Now, continue on to Diagram 3...
Buttonhole Wheel Stitch - Diagram 3
Buttonhole Wheel Stitch (Diagram 3):
Beginning where we left off at B, bring the needle up at K, move up OVER the previous stitch, over one canvas thread and to the right over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at L, move up OVER the previous stitch and over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at M, move up OVER the previous stitch and over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at N, move up OVER the previous stitch, up over once canvas thread and to the left over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. At this point you will need to work a small stitch over the last loop to hold it in place. To make this stitch virtually invisible, work it over the end of the A stitch.
