Ladder Stitch - Diagram 1
Ladder Stitch - Diagram 2
Ladder Stitch - Diagram 3
Ladder Stitch (Diagram 1):
Bring the needle up at A, move to the right over six canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at C, (bring the needle OVER the A/B stitch - you will be wrapping the yarn around the A/B stitch, NOT the canvas) move down over one canvas thread and to the right over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at D. Bring the needle up at E (bring the needle OVER the A/B stitch - you will be wrapping the yarn around the A/B stitch, NOT the canvas), move up over one canvas thread and to the right over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at F. Now, continue on to Diagram 2...
Ladder Stitch (Diagram 2):
This is where it gets a little bit complicated to illustrate and describe this stitch. Beginning where we left off at F, move the needle/yarn by following the red arrows. The needle will be moved UNDER the A/B stitch at F, OVER the E/F stitch, OVER the C/D stitch and UNDER the A/B stitch at C. At this point, the yarn will need to be pulled tight so that a new horizontal stitch is created. Once this is done, continue on to Diagram 3...
Ladder Stitch (Diagram 3):
Once the new horizontal stitch is created, the needle should end up at C. From C, move down, following the red arrows, and OVER the previous stitches, bring the needle down at G. Bring the needle up at H, move up to the red arrow. Following the red arrow, move the needle UNDER the E/F stitch. From here you will start another horizontal stitch, working around the H stitch and the G stitch as  demonstrated in the previous diagrams.
