Brick Stitch - Horizontal Diagram
BRICK STITCH
Brick Stitch (Vertical Method):
Bring the needle up at A, go up 2 threads and down at B. Move over 2 threads, go down 2 threads (staying even with your first stitch) and bring the needle up at C. Go up 2 threads, bring the needle down at D. Move over 2 threads, go down 2 threads (again staying even with your previous stitches) and bring the needle up at E. Go up 2 threads and bring the needle down at F. Continue in this manner through G,H, I and J. Once you have brought the needle down through J, you have completed this row.
To start the second row, we begin where we left off at J. The second row will be worked from left to right.  From J, move over 1 thread, down 3 threads (1 thread below your first row) and bring the needle up at K. Go up 2 threads, bring the needle down at L. Move over 2
The Brick Stitch is similar to the Gobelin Filling Stitch. They both create a zigzag effect and are excellent when used as a background stitch. The Brick Stich may be
Brick Stitch (Horizontal Method):
Bring the needle up at A, move over 2 threads and bring the needle down at B. Go up2 threads, move over 2 threads and bring the needle up at C. Move over 2 threads and bring the needle down at D. Continue in this manner through E, F, G and H.
The second row is worked from top to bottom. We start where we left off at H. From H, move over (to the left ) 3 threads, down 1 thread and bring the needle up at I. move over (to the right) 2 threads and bring the needle down at J. Move over 2

This variation of the vertical brick stitch used sets of two stitches at a time.
Brick Stitch Variation - Horizontal Method
Like the vertical method above this horizontal method uses sets of two stitches at a time.
