Tie Stitch (Diagram 1):
Bring the needle up at A, move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at C (the same canvas hole as A), move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at D (again, the same canvas hole as B). These vertical stitches are worked side by side within the same canvas holes. Once the vertical stitches are complete, the tie-down stitch is added. The tie-down stitch is illustrated in dark blue. Bring the needle up at E, move to the right over two canvas threads and OVER the vertical stitches, bring the needle down at F. Now, continue on to Diagram 2...
Tie Stitch (Diagram 2):
This diagram illustrates how each consecutive tie stitch should be worked. Work tie stitch A as demonstrated in Diagram 1. Once the tie down stitch is complete, proceed to tie stitch B. As you can see from this diagram, space is left in between each stitch so that the next row of stitch may be worked in. Once tie stitch B is complete, work tie stitch C and tie stitch D. Then start the next row, working tie stitch E, F and G - in that order. Now, continue on to Diagram 3...
Tie Stitch (Diagram 3):
This diagram illustrates how three rows of tie stitches should look when complete. Although not illustrated here, filling stitches will be necessary for the edges of this stitch. Simple, straight stitches will suffice.
