The 2,4,6,8 & Tie Stitch is also called the tie stitch. However, do not confuse this
stitch with the other tie stitch. Basically, this stitch consists of a series of straight stitches that cover a specific number of canvas threads - 2 threads, 4 threads, 6 threads and 8 threads. Once the 8 thread stitch is complete, a tie down stitch is added. This is where the name of the stitch is derived. When complete the 2, 4, 6, 8 and Tie Stitch will create a quilted look. The back stitches illustrated in diagram 5 are not absolutely necessary. However, you may want to use back stitches worked in a constrasting color. This will add to the quilted look of the stitch. Five diagrams have been used to demonstrate this stitch. Clicking on the PRINTABLE VERSION icon, located at the end of the series of diagrams, will direct you to the page to print these instructions.
